Teleportation Key
Move instantly across the continent, but know that your enemy can learn the codes.
Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future featured a unique system called 'transit gates,' which functioned as teleportation portals allowing the resistance to move quickly across North America. These gates were essential for maintaining the secrecy of the 'Power Base,' an abandoned NORAD installation located in the Rocky Mountains. The technology served a dual purpose: rapid tactical deployment and concealing the team's headquarters from Lord Dread's forces. Unlike standard transport, this system was integral to the group's survival strategy during their guerrilla war against the Bio-Dread Empire.

Lore & Background
The transit gates were part of Captain Jonathan Power's resistance strategy, allowing his 'Power Team' to strike Bio-Dread forces and vanish before retaliation. The system was vulnerable when Lord Dread successfully broke the access codes in episode 8, leading to a devastating assault on the base. This breach forced the team to flee while Corporal Jennifer 'Pilot' Chase remained behind. Her final act involved activating the self-destruct mechanism of the facility, sacrificing herself to destroy the Bio-Dread troops and the compromised transit network within.
In Their Own Story
By 2147, fifteen years after the Metal Wars began, humanity lived in hiding from digitizing machines. The Power Team utilized the transit gates to navigate the dangerous landscape near Volcania, located in sector 9 by 6 near the Great Lakes. During the climax of the first season, Dread's forces overwhelmed the base defenses by exploiting the broken gate codes. As the facility crumbled under assault, Pilot made her choice. She stayed behind to ensure the enemy could not use the gates or capture the team, triggering the explosion that ended the chapter for the original Power Base.
Reader's Guide
The transit gates operated as a secure teleportation network connecting various points in North America to the central Power Base. To function safely, users required valid access codes which remained secret until Lord Dread cracked them. The system's failure marked a turning point where the team lost their primary sanctuary. Users included Captain Jonathan Power, Major Hawk Masterson, Lieutenant Tank Ellis, Sergeant Scout Baker, and Pilot Chase. The technology was designed to keep the base location hidden from Bio-Mechs and human collaborators loyal to Dread.
